Epithermal Deposit

 Martha Mine, Waihi

Describes a deposit found on, or close to, the
surface of ancient volcano spills that were formed
at relatively low temperatures.

Due to weathering, the deposit can be spread
over large areas, but when found in a concentrated state,
can contain very high levels of mineralization.

Epithermal deposits can usually be found around
the so-called, Pacific Ocean 'Ring of Fire'.
