This is a surface mining method that uses high pressure water cannons to wash away
unconsolidated ore consisting of sand, gravel and small rocks.

This method can be used in alluvial deposits and old dumps.

This process can cause substantial environmental damage by stripping away topsoil and polluting
rivers and streams and is therefore, now seldom used.
